An Taisce Invasive Species Field Trip, Saturday June 23rd

Standard

Here are some images from last Saturday’s An Taisce Green Communities training day, an invasive species field trip, which took place at Bushy Park, Dublin 6.

The training day was led by Dr Joe Caffrey of Inland Fisheries Ireland.
The following invasive plant species were identified along the bank of the river Dodder –  Himalayan Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam, Japanese Knotweed, and Bohemian Knotweed.  The An Taisce Green Communities volunteers cleared the one kilometer stretch of the river Dodder, beside Bushy Park, of Himalayan Balsam.

Later on, the participants cooked nettle omelettes, using nettles collected on the walk, as part of a picnic in the park.

The next An Taisce Green Communities training day will be here at The Heritage Garden (Yay!), and it will be a bat box building workshop, a barbecue, and an evening bat walk, and it will take place on Saturday the 28th of July.  We’re really looking forward to it and we’re hoping that lots of people come along and join us, it’s going to be a lot of fun!
