Like many volunteer-led Community Projects, here at the Heritage Community Garden we require day to day materials in order to maintain and create a beautiful community garden and ensure a bountiful growing season. In order to help this along, We’ve decided to organise a pub quiz to help us fund our third year in the Heritage Community Garden Project. We hope to see you there.

Make a Plastic Bottle Coldframe for CGN and Bloom ’13

Standard

Make a plastic bottle coldframe for the Community Garden Network garden at Bloom 2013 – A workshop at The Heritage Community Garden.
Sunday 26th of May – 11am to 3pm. Free. With Sandra Austin.

Upcycled plastic bottles

Upcycled plastic bottles

The Community Garden Network will have a small (2m x 3m) ‘postcard’ garden at Bloom 2013, and we need YOUR help to make one of the integral items for the garden – a coldframe made from recycled wood and plastic bottles.

Our postcard garden is called “All Part of the Pattern”, and will be “a garden reflecting the ideals and focus of community gardening in Ireland – social inclusion, improved nutrition, building community, sharing skills and knowledge. We are all – however different – part of the pattern of our community.”

A focal point of the garden will be a cold frame made from recycled wood and plastic bottles – “as well as being conscious of environmental issues, most community gardeners need to be inventive, as they’re working with limited resources”

Please come along and help to make the coldframe on Sunday, 26th May, at 11am in The Heritage Garden, Donnybrook.

P.S. We’ll need lots of plastic bottles, so please bring along any 500ml bottles (like the ones below) you might have.
